Airport Medical Services has been established since 1988 and is run by Dr Ken Edgington ably assisted by Dr Tony Goodwin, Dr Chris King and their secretarial staff. Dr Edgington and Dr Goodwin have had extensive  experience in aviation and aviation medicine in the Armed Forces, with major airlines and Dr Edgington joined the practice from his last senior appointment as Chief Medical Officer of the UK CAA. Dr Chris King has had his Class One stamp for many years and is in practice in Sussex, is involved in emergency GP programmes and has a PPL, flying from Goodwood."

Airport Medical Services is conveniently situated near London Gatwick Airport in Horley, about one mile from the North and South Terminals. The local bus routes 20 and 100 serve the Airport and Horley and provide a frequent service. Horley railway station is a five minute walk from our Practice. Gatwick is at junction 9 of the M23 Motorway and has rapid train links to London’s Victoria station from the South Terminal.

The Practice also has facilities at Heathrow at the Arora International on the Bath Road opposite the BA Compass Centre. At present this service is available one day per week on Tuesdays. The Hotel has a secure basement car park that is free for the first 2 hours. Buses from Heathrow stop at the Hotel - enquire at the Central Area Bus Station.

We can undertake both commercial and private pilots medical examinations not only for the UK CAA but also many overseas authorities. In addition we act as Medical Adviser for a number of airlines, providing a range of services from Initial Entry Medical for flight deck, cabin and ground staff to Invalid Passenger Clearances, medical policy, examining sick staff, immunisations etc. We also act as Medical Advisers to the British Airline Pilots Association (BALPA) and to the International Federation of Airline Pilots Associations (IFALPA).

The centre is open Monday-Friday from 09.00-17.00 and has full-time secretarial and administrative cover. Telephone: 01293 775336 for an appointment. Out of hours messages can be taken by answerphone, fax or e-mail. Consultation is by appointment.
